Exercise of the Week: Slideboard Lateral Lunge with Eccentric Band Overload
Written on March 22, 2022 at 6:00 am, by Eric Cressey
The slideboard lateral lunge with eccentric band overload is a good train I picked up from my buddy Ben Bruno.
You’ll discover that the tour (on the slideboard) leg has a band across the ankle. This will increase the eccentric problem (slideboard + band = exhausting!), which must be offset by a greater “hold” from the hinge sample on the assist leg. This maintain is corresponding to what many hitters depend on to provide them adjustability in opposition to off pace pitches, and what pitchers really feel to avoiding drifting down the mound too rapidly — or just swinging the entrance leg open.
You can do that with a kettlebell goblet, one-arm racked, or one-arm down setup. We’ll usually program it for 8-10 reps per set, particularly as a result of it usually takes a rep or two or athletes to really feel it out.
If you’re on the lookout for an train that can present some particular carryover to on-field efficiency in rotational sport athletes, look no additional!
